Accessibility

Threat information is never colour alone, animation can be switched off, and the layout is built for one hand.

Accessibility here is not a list of options bolted on afterwards but a handful of decisions sitting inside the design itself. This page names them one by one.

Colour never carries information alone

This is the strictest rule in the game. Where a threat is, where its gaze falls, which key a door belongs to — none of it is ever given by colour alone. Every time, the colour is joined by a shape, a symbol or a pattern:

  • A line of sight is painted and the watcher's facing is drawn.
  • A door carries its key's colour and a matching symbol on it.
  • An earned star is distinguished by shape and outline, not colour.
  • Caravan members' exits match by both colour and symbol.

Reduced motion

Animation can be reduced from the settings. Switched off, motion does not disappear entirely — the transitions you need in order to follow what the board did remain, but parallax, sway and decorative animation stop.

This setting does not change play. The game is turn-based; animation decides how a result is shown, never what it is.

Touch targets

Everything touchable is at least 44 pixels tall. That includes the diorama's nodes: the framing calculation separately guarantees both a node's nominal size and the area it does not share with its neighbours.

This is machine-checked too — a target that cannot be measured is a warning, one that measures too small is an error.

One-handed play

The portrait layout is the primary one and everything you need to touch is in the bottom bar. Apart from the three items in the top bar (level number, undo, menu), nothing sits in the upper half of the screen.

See Reading the screen.

Text size

Adjustable from the settings. There is little in-game text to begin with — the storytelling is wordless — but menus, tutorial lines and this site all respond to it.

No time pressure

Perhaps the most important one: there is no timer anywhere in the game. You can stop as long as you like over a move, put the phone down and come back a week later. There is not a single moment that asks for reflexes.

For players with limited motor control or reaction speed, that is not a setting but the basic shape of the game.
