A hiding spot is the safest place on the board — and its safety is not a design promise but a guarantee enforced in the engine.
Behaviour
Standing on a node tagged hide makes you invisible during the sight step of
turn resolution. Even if a chain runs across that node, it does not find you.
This holds for every kind of gaze: the sentry's, the patrol's and the chaser's.
The contact rule still applies — an enemy arriving on your node still catches you. But enemies never step onto a hiding node for a route or a pursuit.
How you read it
The art differs by act but the job is the same: under a stall or inside a tent in act 1, the shadow of a ruin in act 2, a hollow in the rock in act 3. All of them carry a distinct icon, and your figure turns semi-transparent when you step in.

One of the two "unsolvable" tutorial levels in the catalogue: remove the rule from the data and the level has no solution left. The only route runs through the hiding node, so the player has to discover using it.
One validation rule
The level validator flags a hide node that appears in no line of sight at all
as "decoration" and warns about it. The reasoning is simple: a hiding spot only
means something if there is something to hide from. A bush placed for looks
promises the player a threat that is not there.
